Does GT86 make Scion Owner feel Good?
Well, Many fans have been disappointed with Toyota’s decision to close down Scion. FRS owners especially can feel uncomfortable when they see their cars because they were discontinued. Toyota has finally realized that it needs to give them some recognition. They have decided to bring the GT86, the new revamp of the FRS, in the coming New York Auto Show.
The GT86 will finally make its debut in the US. However, FRS owners might be shocked by Toyota’s “shift” in design philosophy. It has been a long time since Toyota has branded a light size coupe like the Celica or Supra. Although it does not have the Scion Badge, the GT86 has meaning by itself except for its design.
Why the design? The GT86 has revamped bumper, headlight, and tail, much more chic than FRS. The bumper has imitation intake holes in the left and right sides. There are a lot of curved lines added under the bumper. All of these things make the GT86 looks like a fish. How about the tail? LEDs seem to be familiar. Where have I seen these before? That’s right: You can see them browsing Ebay motors or at the display corners in your local LED shop. It smells too much like aftermarket parts to buy.
Nevertheless, there are a few reasons to buy the GT86. It has more Power. 2.5liter engine deliver 205 Hp, about a 5HP increase from the FRS. Hill Start Assist Control has been added, for Manual drivers. A lot of small things have been modified for drivers satisfaction.
The 2016 GT86 looks great for the US. But FRS might still be displeased. How to make them come back? After looking over most FRS forums, I am able to see one solution. What if the GT86 gets a Turbo? They’ll forget the Scion’s Badge right away.
